ICYMI: Partner Andrew Gruber on ‘Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick’
Posted in General

Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP partner Andrew Gruber appeared on an episode of “Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick” this past Monday, Jan. 27, 2014. Gruber had the opportunity to discuss the vote on bill HJR-3 going on at the Statehouse last week.

For those who do not know the details of HJR-3, it is a proposed bill that would further define marriage in the state of Indiana. The bill would add an amendment to the State Constitution making it illegal for same sex couples to marry. The bill has outraged some while showing strong support from other groups.

Alongside Short Strategy Group President, Frank Short, and Radio Host and Author, Peter Dunn, Gruber had an open discussion in the segment that enlightened viewers on one aspect that the bill might negatively affect: business. Some Indiana businesses, such as Eli Lilly, believe the bill will cause the “best and the brightest” to stray away from Indiana and ultimately hurt our economy in the long run.

“It’s going to be divisive, we know that,” said Gruber. “We, as a state and as a business community, have, for the last decade or so, hand-in-hand, walked to improve the state’s business climate together and now you have the state and business, really, on two separate sides of this aisle.”
