Join me for the 22nd Annual Business and Industry’s Sustainability and Environmental, Health & Safety Symposium

As an environmental attorney, I’m certainly looking forward to speaking at the upcoming 22nd Annual Business and Industry’s Sustainability and Environmental, Health & Safety Symposium with my colleague. This two-day symposium will cover sustainability and environmental, health and safety developments and best practices, as well as provide attendees ample opportunities to network with environmental professionals from Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and other states in the region.

I will be speaking on a panel at one of the concurrent and interactive workshops from 2–3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26. We will discuss major air permitting, regulatory and compliance developments in Kentucky; the status of achieving National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS); and the development of the Kentucky State Implementation Plan (SIP). We will also discuss the impact of federal regulatory actions on the power industry in Kentucky and the utility response, and share updates on compliance and enforcement issues.

My colleague will be speaking on a panel later that day from 3:30–4:45 p.m. about the current trends in environmental enforcement. The panel will discuss recent federal, state and citizen enforcement initiatives under a variety of environmental laws with a focus on the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2013 Enforcement Initiatives, along with key areas of enforcement by EPA, states and environmental groups. Especially noteworthy will be the discussion of proactive compliance philosophies for minimizing criminal and civil liability and innovative approaches to resolve or defend enforcement actions.

The Sustainability and Environmental, Health & Safety Symposium will be an informative event for those in the sustainability and EHS fields, and I look forward to participating.
