Large Group of Freshman Legislators to Join Indiana General Assembly

Indiana’s Nov. 6 election saw a sizable group of new legislators elected to both the Senate and House of Representatives.

Of the 150 lawmakers, four members of the Indiana Senate are preparing to serve their first term, and there are 25 freshman members of the Indiana House.

The new Senate members include three Republicans and one Democrat as follows:

  • SD 24, Pete Miller (R-Avon)
  • SD 28, Mike Crider (R-Greenfield)
  • SD 37, Rod Bray (R-Martinsville)
  • SD 40, Mark Stoops (D-Bloomington)

The new House members include nineteen Republicans and six Democrats as follows:

  • HD 5, Dale DeVon (R-Granger)
  • HD 11, Rick Niemeyer (R-Lowell)
  • HD 13, Sharon Negele (R-Attica)
  • HD 15, Hal Slager (R-Schererville)
  • HD 17, Tim Harman (R-Bremen)
  • HD 24, Steve Braun (R-Zionsville)
  • HD 37, Todd Huston (R-Fishers)
  • HD 42, Alan Morrison (R-Terre Haute)
  • HD 47, John Price (R-Greenwood)
  • HD 51, Dennis Zent (R-Angola)
  • HD 52, Ben Smaltz (R-Auburn)
  • HD 55, Cindy Ziemke (R-Batesville)
