Partner Daniel Boots Works and Plays During Recent Trip to China

Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP partner Daniel Boots couldn’t be found in his office from Sept. 17-30 – but that doesn’t mean valuable work wasn’t being done.

Alongside fellow members of the America China Society of Indiana (ACSI) delegation, Boots visited the most famous sights that China has to offer – everything from the Great Wall and the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing, to the Terracotta warriors in Xian and the Shanghai Eastern Pearl Tower. Most of his trip, however, served both as an investigative and business development opportunity.

“The purpose of the trip was to investigate opportunities in China for Midwest businesses,” Boots said. “Additionally, we wanted to promote Indiana as a suitable environment for Chinese businesses looking to establish themselves in the U.S.”

The goal was to establish and build relationships with key Chinese companies and business leaders, and Boots said he was confident they made a positive impression. The delegation’s work was carried out through numerous trade shows, presentations and meetings with officials and businesses. The 14-day trip covered six cities, including Beijing, Hohhot, Xian, Xiangyang, Shanghai and Taian.

Daniel L. Boots concentrates his practice on counseling emerging and established businesses in the areas of intellectual property and technology development; technology procurement and transfer; E-commerce; computer software and hardware licensing; patent and trademark infringement and validity studies; preparation and prosecution of domestic and foreign patent and trademark applications in a variety of arts; domain name protection and dispute resolution; trade secrets; and entertainment and the arts.
