Remember These Rules When Employees Return to School

It's that time of the year again - when school is back in session. When employees return to school, employers in Kentucky must be aware that the state places time limitations on certain age groups. Some of the basics to know are:

Ages: 14 - 15

May Not Work Before: 7:00 AM

May Not Work After: 7:00 PM

Maximum Hours Allowed During School Year: 3 hours on a school day

8 hours on a non-school day

18 hours per week

Ages: 16 - 17

May Not Work Before: 6:00 AM

May Not Work After: 10:30 PM preceding a school day

1:00 AM preceding a non-school day

Maximum Hours Allowed During School Year: 6 hours on a school day

8 hours on a non-school day

30 hours per week

If you have operations in other states, be sure to check that state's Department of Labor regulations.
