Two Bingham Greenebaum Doll Attorneys Graduate from Bar Leader Series

Congratulations to Bingham Greenebaum Doll attorneys Meg Christensen and Doug Gallagher, who both graduated from the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Class VIII Bar Leader Series on May 17.

To kick off the series, the 26 participants attended a two-day retreat in September, during which they divided into small groups based on specific community service project interests. Each small group received $1,000 from the Indianapolis Bar Foundation to carry out a project within the nine months of the Bar Leader Series that would give back to the community in a meaningful way. The groups were asked to provide $1,500 in value through their projects. The participants attended monthly programs, which were focused on community awareness and leadership skill enhancement.

Outside of the regularly scheduled monthly sessions, the small groups met at least once a month to work on their specific community service projects. Meg and Doug worked together with three other attorneys to provide educational resources to residents of the Coburn Place, a long-term transitional shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Their group provided computers and software to replace virus-infected, inoperative equipment, as well as bulletin boards as a place to post job opening and program announcements. They also developed a resource guide for residents, addressing topics such as education, employment, financial recovery and transportation.

After a presentation of community service projects on May 17, all participants attended a lunch at McCormick & Schmick’s to conclude the Bar Leader Series. The Bar Leader Series is chaired by the Honorable Robyn Moberly, Marion County Superior Court Judge. Special thanks to Bingham Greenebaum Doll partner Brian Welch, who serves on the steering committee. Please see below for pictures of the attorneys' community service project.
