USCIS to Launch New Electronic Immigration System

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will launch the initial release of its new electronic immigration system on Tuesday May 22, 2012.

USCIS ELIS, as the new system will be called, is the USCIS’ first-ever online immigration system. USCIS ELIS was created to modernize the process for both filing and adjudicating immigration benefits. At this time, the initial release will only be available to certain students and visitors.

This initial release of USCIS ELIS will lay the foundation for the web-based future of USCIS. USCIS ELIS is expected to improve customer service, provide shorter processing times and enhance adjudication tools to counteract fraud and safeguard national security. Future releases will include additional form types until USCIS ELIS is available for all USCIS immigration benefits.
