BGD Team Helps Preserve Local Landmark in Jasper

Monday, January 2, 2017 9:00 am

A team led by partner William J. Kaiser Jr. was recently able to assist in the efforts to preserve the Mother of God Grotto in Jasper. According to the Dubois County Herald, Cathedral Health Care has gifted a portion of its grounds to Bingham Greenebaum Doll client, Friends of Grotto Inc., a nonprofit whose mission is to maintain and preserve the Mother of God grotto.

The Mother of God Grotto is a spiritual monument that has long served the Jasper community. The Grotto features a marble statue of Mary and a ceiling with faux stalactites and is part of the Geode Grotto in Jasper.

To assist in the grotto’s preservation, Friends of Grotto Inc. was also able to secure two large grants from Dubois County Community Foundation and Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. Maintenance repairs as well as preservation efforts of the property have now begun, two items that were on hold due to a lack of funding.
