2016 COST Property Tax Workshop
Join Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP Tax & Employee Benefits practice group chair Mark A. Loyd, Jeffrey T. Bennett and Brad Hasler at the 2016 COST Property Tax Workshop Jan. 13-15 in San Antonio, Texas. This conference covers the latest Property Tax issues and trends that companies will be dealing with in 2016 and beyond. Valuation Basics, Property Tax Relief, Equalization and Uniformity are just a few of the topics on the agenda. An interactive audit session covering property taxes in the US is also planned.
Bennett will present “Property Tax Relief via Incentives and Abatement Programs,” discussing the process of obtaining tax benefits and minimizing potential claw-back issues if your company’s business plans change.
Hasler will present three sessions during the two-day conference. The first, “Top 10 Legislative and Litigation Issues to Watch for in 2016,” will provide a look at potential future issues in state legislatures, courts and elsewhere that may impact the property tax world in 2016 and beyond. The second, “Valuation Basics – Primer/Refresher,” will discuss the basics of property tax valuation including a review of the accepted methods of valuation. The third, “Equalization and Uniformity – How to Keep the Assessors Honest,” will explain the state constitutional concepts of uniformity and equalization.
Loyd will participate in the panel, “Completing the Circle – Panel Discussion on Managing Property Tax Disputes from Beginning to End,” providing the best practices and procedures for resolving tough valuation issues. He will then close the conference alongside other tax professionals in “Panel of Practitioners from Accounting, Valuation and Legal Firms Addressing Issues from the Audience.”
