Roxana Bell Talks Transitioning to Private Practice at BGD in Indiana News
Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP attorney Roxana S. Bell was teaching chemistry and physics at Arlington High School when she decided to go back to school to be a lawyer.
“I always knew I would go back to school,” she said in a recent interview with Indiana News. “I told my students every day to continue their education. To me, pursuing my J.D. seemed like a natural next step.”
Bell shared a few details about her transition to private practice in the newest issue of Indiana News. The featured profile mentions her first impressions of BGD as a law student, her community involvement outside of the office, and her prior experience clerking in both federal and state court.
“They say that Indianapolis is a big town with a small-town feel; BGD is very similar,” said Bell. “You get responsibility early and develop closer relationships with the people in your department. From day one, you receive all the benefits of a small firm, along with the resources of working in a large firm.”
Bell received her law degree from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2011 and joined BGD in 2013 after clerking for Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and Judge Rudolph R. Pyle of the Court of Appeals of Indiana. She works in the firm’s Indianapolis office where she is a member of the Labor and Employment practice group, focusing her practice in the areas of discrimination defense and general employment and workplace policies.
In addition, she is very active in the community, serving on the IndyBar Women in Law Division Executive Committee and Diversity Job Fair Committee. Bell also serves as the 2014 Marion County Bar Association Corresponding Secretary. Earlier this year, Bell was also chosen to be a part of the IndyBar Bar Leader Series Class XII.
