Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP Partner Rafael Sanchez Meets with NFL Bid Liaisons in New York

INDIANAPOLIS – Following a unanimous vote by the 2012 Super Bowl Host Committee board of directors to enter Indianapolis in the NFL’s bid process for Super Bowl LLII in 2018, leaders of the 2018 Super Bowl Bid Committee traveled to New York/New Jersey last week to meet with NFL bid liaisons while getting a first-hand look at how the Big Apple handled the big game.

This group of four included Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP partner and Bid Committee Secretary Rafael Sanchez. As part of the team that will draft a final bid for Indianapolis to host Super Bowl LLII, he spent almost four days touring Super Bowl Boulevard, the media center and MetLife Stadium.

“Any host committee will tell you that they wish to leave a legacy for future Super Bowls,” Sanchez said. “My team and I want to build on what we saw during our stay.”

A few similarities were noted by Sanchez when he compared the two Super Bowls. The Super Bowl Boulevard mirrored the Super Bowl Village idea introduced in Indianapolis two years ago. A social media monitoring center and outdoor sport networks broadcasting sets, also Indianapolis innovations, were also used during Super Bowl XLVII this year.

“It’s great to see the ideas that started in Indianapolis become part of the Super Bowl. If our bid is accepted, the Committee’s new challenge will be building on these great ideas to make them even better,” said Sanchez.

Details of Indy’s bid won’t be disclosed until after the NFL owners make their decision. The committee plans to tweak their bid before the late April deadline.
