BGD Attorney’s Volunteer Work Applauded by Southern District of Indiana

Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP attorney Briana Clark and attorney Phillip Fowler were among those who received special recognition during the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana’s second annual Pro Bono Appreciation Breakfast on Feb. 12. The judges, magistrates and staff attorneys of the Southern District held the event to thank all the attorneys who donated their time and expertise to help unrepresented litigants last year. Chief Judge Richard Young presided over the recognition ceremony held at the Birch Bayh Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in Indianapolis.

According to the Indiana Lawyer, a total of 61 attorneys accepted appointments to either the Mediation Assistance Program or the Civil Trial Assistance Panel on 2014.

BGD has been an active participant in the federal Mediation Assistance Program and the Civil Trial Assistance Panel for a number of years. In 2010, the firm was named the “Pro Bono Firm of the Year” by the Indianapolis Bar Association, and Fowler was named the “Pro Bono Attorney of the Year.” These programs are a great way for our lawyers to give back to the profession that gives us so much. They also provide opportunities for the firm’s younger attorneys to gain invaluable trial experience.
