BGD Partner Chaz Lavelle Named to Captive Review’s Inaugural Enterprise Risk Captive Pioneers List

BGD partner Charles J. Lavelle has been recognized as one of 20 key influencers in the United States’ smaller captive industry. Please join in the firm in congratulating Chaz for being named to the 2015 Captive Review Enterprise Risk Captive Pioneers list. Only four of the 2015 Captive Review Power 50 were honored on both lists, including Lavelle.

The Captive Review Enterprise Risk Captive is a worldwide listing of professionals in the micro-captive arena who are globally viewed as being proactive, influential and committed. Micro-captives are typically defined as those allowed to claim the 831(b) tax election, which is allowed for captives writing less than $1.2 million in annual premium.

The market for micro-captive services is growing quickly and is set to expand pending congressional action to increase the annual premium limit. Lavelle frequently works to educate and guide the micro-captive industry through regular panel and workshop appearances at conferences across the country. His work in the industry is highly regarded nationally; Captive Review describes Chaz as one of the “leading legal authorities” in the captive insurance practice area and “a well-respected and influential figure among his legal peers, managers and captive owners.”

Lavelle has also been named “Lawyer of the Year” several times in recent years in both Litigation and Controversy - Tax and Tax Law by The Best Lawyers in America© and currently serves as a Fellow at the American College of Tax Counsel.
