BGD Pulls 160,000-pound Cargo Jet Across Runway to Benefit Special Olympics Kentucky
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 7, 2014) - As part of the firm's centennial celebration, Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP participated in the Special Olympics Kentucky UPS Plane Pull event in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014. The BGD Super Stars team of 20 pulled a 160,000-pound plane 12 feet across the tarmac in 8.09 seconds.
The firm’s team of volunteers competed against more than 40 teams in a tug-of-war with a UPS 757 Cargo Jet. While BGD did not pull the plane in the shortest time, the firm did help Special Olympics Kentucky raise over $110,000 at their biggest single-day fundraiser of the year. These funds will support more than 6,000 Special Olympics athletes throughout the Bluegrass State.
“Our firm is proud to support such a worthwhile organization,” said Louisville Managing Partner Mark H. Oppenheimer. “The plane pull event was an excellent way for us to celebrate 100 years of being a part of this community, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have around the state for years to come.”
BGD also participated in the Indianapolis Plane Pull Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, where they helped raise over $160,000 for Special Olympics Indiana. Managing Partner Tobin McClamroch is the Chair Elect of Special Olympics Indiana.
