Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP Legislative Conference Announces Keynote Address and Session Topics

CNN’s David Gergen will present ‘Eyewitness to Power: Leadership in America’ and Offer Seven Lessons for Future Leaders

INDIANAPOLIS (Dec., 4, 2017) - Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP is proud to announce the keynote address and session topics for the 2017 BGD Legislative Conference at the Indiana Convention Center on Wednesday, December 13.

David Gergen, senior political analyst for CNN, will present “Eyewitness to Power: Leadership in America” as the luncheon keynote address. Gergen’s discussion will include insights into and analysis of presidents from Nixon to Trump. He had a front-row seat for Watergate, Whitewater, and the ups and downs of every Presidency over the past thirty years. A White House adviser to four presidents, both Republican and Democrat, Gergen offers a vivid, behind-the-scenes account of their struggles to exercise power, and draws from them key lessons for leaders of the future. As the world's economic and political dynamics continue to evolve, a new age is ahead for America, but its realization will depend upon the success of a new generation at the top. Drawing upon his many experiences in the White House, Gergen offers seven key lessons for leaders of the future. What they must possess, he says, are: inner mastery; a central, compelling purpose rooted in moral values; a capacity to persuade; skills in working within the system; a fast start; a strong, effective team; and a passion that inspires others to keep the flame alive.

“We are thrilled to have David Gergen as our keynote speaker during BGD LegCon this year,” said Managing Partner Tobin McClamroch. “His unique perspective on the qualities needed for effective leadership will be a positive and timely message for our audience of government and business leaders, as our conference serves as the unofficial start of the Indiana legislative session.”

In addition, 16 elected officials are confirmed to speak during the conference, including Governor Eric Holcomb, Indiana Attorney General Curtis T. Hill and Indiana House Speaker Brian C. Bosma.
