Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP Welcomes Attorney J. Sebastian Smelko
Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP is pleased to welcome J. Sebastian Smelko to the firm’s Indianapolis office. Smelko will work with the Government Practice Group, focusing his practice in the areas of government contract procurement, government services and public finance and legislative lobbying. He joins the firm with previous experience as general counsel of the Ports of Indiana and as the assistant general counsel and gaming public safety policy director with the Office of former Governor Mitch Daniels.
"Sebastian’s strong experience in state government makes him a natural fit for our Government Practice Group,” said Tobin McClamroch, Co-Chairman of the firm. “His interest for the government and legislative lobbying subjects help us grow in these areas and expand our team approach to helping clients work with local and state governments.”
Smelko possesses a breadth of knowledge of the executive branch of government and a deep understanding of gaming regulation and public safety policies, including negotiating, drafting and reviewing contracts; analyzing and drafting policy initiatives; and ushering legislation through the general assembly. Having this experience gives Smelko a worldly perspective that leads him to find and create unique ideas for his clients.
Smelko graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2007 after obtaining his undergraduate degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 2003. Smelko has presented as Faculty Member, Gaming Master’s Series Conference, Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum, and serves as a Mayoral Appointee to the Massachusetts Avenue Community Development Corporation.
