Brackets For Good Hopes to Double Fundraising in Louisville for 2016
Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP is proud to once again be the title sponsor of the 2016 Brackets For Good tournament in Louisville. This year, Brackets For Good is expanding to more cities and is hoping to double the fundraising efforts in Louisville after an incredible inaugural season.
According to Louisville Business First, the Indianapolis-based nonprofit organization will select 64 Louisville nonprofits to participate in January 2016 out of a larger pool of registered applicants. Much like the NCAA tournament, the field is whittled from 64 to one as nonprofits square off in individual rounds. Donors log on the tournament's online portal, where they can make donations to the participating nonprofits. Each dollar raised for a nonprofit equates to one point. To advance, a nonprofit must score more points than its opponent.
At the end of each round, the points for the advancing nonprofit agencies are reset to zero, but every dollar donated throughout the tournament is given to the specific nonprofits, regardless of advancement. The winner gets an additional grand prize donation of $10,000 from the title sponsor, BGD.
Brackets For Good launched in Indianapolis in 2011 to raise awareness and money for Indianapolis nonprofits. With success in both Indianapolis and Louisville, the company intends to expand into three more markets in 2016: St. Louis, Missouri; Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Minneapolis-St Paul, Minnesota. The 2016 tournaments will begin Feb. 26, 2016, with the final round concluding April 1, 2016.
