Chip Bowles Wins the 2008 American Bankruptcy Institute Annual Service Award


LOUISVILLE, KY:  Greenebaum Doll & McDonald PLLC is pleased to announce that Claude R. “Chip” Bowles, Jr. was awarded the 2008 American Bankruptcy Institute Annual Service Award. Chosen from approximately 12,000 members, Chip was recognized for his tireless work on the Professional Fee Study and Compensation Survey, in addition to communication and educational efforts. The American Bankruptcy Institute-funded study is the largest and most comprehensive independent study of professional compensation in Chapter 11 cases since the ABI's 1991 National Report on Professional Compensation and is considered one of the most important initiatives ever undertaken by the Institute.

The award is the Institute’s highest and is presented to the member whose contributions over the past year have been extraordinary, as determined by the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Advisory Board. Current American Bankruptcy Institute President, and fellow Greenebaum attorney, John W. Ames looked on as former President Michael Richman presented the award at the Winter Leadership Conference on December 5, 2008.

Chip Bowles is a member in the firm’s Louisville office, where he concentrates his practice in the area of bankruptcy law, distressed asset sales, professional compensation, ethical issues in bankruptcy and workout situations, representation of non-attorney professionals and debtor and creditor rights. In addition to being a Director of the American Bankruptcy Institute, Chip is a member of the Institute’s Grant Committee and serves as Co-Editor of the their journal’s Ethics Column. He has also been elected to the Board of the American Board of Certification, one of the leading organizations on the certification of attorneys.
