Greenebaum Mourns the Loss of A. Robert Doll
LOUISVILLE, KY: Greenebaum Doll & McDonald PLLC is saddened to announce the passing of A. Robert Doll, a founding Member of the firm, on Sunday, November 29, 2009. Mr. Doll had practiced law with the firm for over 50 years and served as Managing Partner and Chairman from 1973- 1986.
Mr. Doll’s primary practice areas were in tax and corporate law. In early 1958, Mr. Doll argued and won a tax case before the Supreme Court of the United States at age 30. He later became Managing Partner and Chairman of the firm following the death of Samuel L. Greenebaum in 1973. During his tenure as Managing Partner, Greenebaum Doll & McDonald grew from approximately 20 to 120 lawyers. Many new disciplines and areas of practice developed during that period, including securities, healthcare, increased labor emphasis, antitrust law and white collar counsel for defendants.
During Mr. Doll’s lengthy law career, he was active in the American Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, Louisville Bar Association (Past Director) and Louisville Bar Foundation (Past President and Director). Mr. Doll was also involved in several civic and charitable organizations such as the YMCA of Greater Louisville (Past President and Emeritus Director), Lincoln Trail Council Boy Scouts of America (Former Trustee) and First Christian Church. Mr. Doll received his bachelor’s and law degrees from the College of William and Mary.
“Mr. Doll was not just a great lawyer, but a great man and a great leader. He was a progressive leader who made Greenebaum the firm it is today, said Phillip D. Scott, the firm’s current Chairman. “We deeply value the friendship, ideals and character he bestowed upon us and will miss him greatly.”
