ICYMI: Matthew Troyer’s Contribution to the Geist Half Marathon Featured in Indianapolis Star

In case you missed it, Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP partner, Matthew Troyer, was recently featured in the Indianapolis Star for his contributions to the non-profit organization, Geist Half Marathon, Inc.

Troyer co-founded the non-profit in 2008 and currently serves as the president of the organization.

The article focused on the changes being made to the course for its seventh year.” We’re freshening it up,” Troyer said, “to give people something to look forward to and to give people something they haven’t seen before.”

According to Troyer, the changes are to benefit the participants with a more “friendly” course. The new course takes away some of the more difficult and steep climbs and replaces them with gentler hills for the participants. The goal was to “incorporate as many lake views as possible,” said Troyer. The finish line has also been moved to help with parking and transportation issues the race has faced previously.

The race is predicted to draw more than six thousand participants this year. Since its start in 2008, the Geist Half Marathon efforts have raised more than $360 thousand dollars for the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation,  the Lawrence Township School Foundation and various area schools. The raised money goes towards school—based health and wellness initiatives.
