10.01.2010

LOUISVILLE, KY:  Greenebaum Doll & McDonald PLLC is pleased to announce that Mark A. Loyd, a Member in the firm’s Louisville office, has been appointed a Chair of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT)/American Bar Association (ABA) Advanced Property Tax Seminar Committee.

Mr. Loyd will serve as one of five Chairs for the IPT/ABA Advanced Property Tax Seminar Committee.  The Property Tax Seminar is held in conjunction with the IPT/ABA Advanced Income Tax and Sales and Use Tax Seminars, which are held annually in New Orleans, LA.  The IPT/ABA Property Tax Seminar devotes substantial time to current issues in the field and to practical solutions to recurring difficulties in handling and winning a state and local tax appeal.

IPT was founded in 1976 and is a non-profit educational association serving over 4,400 members representing approximately 1,450 corporations, firms, or taxpayers throughout the United States and Canada. It is the only professional organization that educates, certifies and establishes strict codes of conduct for state and local income, property and sales & use tax professionals who represent taxpayers.  The Institute equips tax professionals in the private/corporate sectors to do a better job every day with valuable tools, top-flight educational programs, and timely notification of legislative actions and court decisions.

Mr. Loyd is a member of the firm’s Tax and Finance Practice Group and is Chair of the State and Local Tax Team.  Mark’s practice includes acting as an advocate for clients in resolving disputes with tax authorities (such as the Kentucky and Indiana Departments of Revenue, local tax authorities and the Internal Revenue Service) involving income, gross receipts, sales and use, property, franchise/license and excise taxes – whether at the administrative level or through litigation.  He also provides advice to clients as to how taxes may or may not apply to existing or contemplated transactions, entities or ownership structures – all with an eye toward tax minimization.

Mr. Loyd received his bachelor’s degree from Bellarmine College, his MBA from the University of Louisville and his J.D. from the University of Louisville, Louis D. Brandeis School of Law.
