Partner John Gregg Signs on as Writer for INforefront
Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP partner John R. Gregg is now a columnist for INforefront, an online community hosted by the Indianapolis Business Journal created for thoughtful conversation surrounding politics, policy and government. Contributors to INforefront are considered thought leaders in the political and ideological spectrum, and are from across Indiana.
Gregg’s first column appeared in February 2014, and he continues to publish opinion pieces regularly. So far, he has covered the topics of state commerce, tax cuts and education proposals. In one column entitled, “Bigger Than ‘A Donut’”, Gregg reminded the legislature and state government that “problems exist all over the state, but most importantly, so do the many opportunities. And, the opportunity is almost endless.”
Gregg joined Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP in 2005. He chairs the Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP Legislative Conference, which is the longest-running and most authoritative annual event focused on Indiana public policy. He was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 1986, and served in several leadership roles before becoming the 85th Speaker of the House in 1996. Gregg retired as the longest serving Democratic Speaker in state history in 2002. He then went on to become the 20th President of Vincennes University, helping that institution move from a two-year to a four-year curriculum.
In 2012, Gregg ran as the democratic candidate for governor of Indiana. This was the closest Indiana gubernatorial race in over 50 years, with a difference of just 74,000 votes out of the 2.4 million votes cast.
