Peter Thurman Shares Benefits of Tri-State Diversity Recruiting Program with Louisville Business First

Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP partner Peter L. Thurman discussed the upcoming 2014 Tri-State Diversity Recruiting Program with Louisville Business First recently. The firm sponsored annual event attracts and connects students and employers from Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. 

The program offers employers exclusive access to summer associates and entry-level attorneys from the Midwest and other regional law schools. It also provides second and third year law school students with the opportunity to interview for summer associate and entry-level positions with prominent regional and national employers.

“We consider it to be our signature recruiting event that is focused on promoting and advancing diversity in the legal community,” said Thurman, the conference chairman and vice chairman of the Recruiting Committee at BGD. 

Thurman also said that something special about this year's event is that Roderick Morgan, the firm’s diversity chairman who works primarily in the firm's Indianapolis office, will speak about diversity.

Event History

The Tri-State Diversity Recruiting Program began in 2005. It was held each year in Cincinnati until 2013, when it took place in Louisville for the first time. BGD has sponsored the event since 2005. The goal of the program is to integrate diversity into law firm programs, policies and practices.

Fifty to 75 attendees are expected to participate in this year’s event on Aug. 16, 2014. This is the second year the event will be held Louisville, Kentucky.
