Regulatory and Transactional Attorney David T. McGimpsey Rejoins BGD


JASPER, Ind. (Jan. 28, 2016) - Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP is pleased to announce that experienced regulatory and transactional attorney David T. McGimpsey has rejoined the firm as Of Counsel and is now a member of the Economic Development and Corporate Transactional practice groups. He will continue his practice from the firm’s Jasper office.

Dave counsels clients on regulatory and transactional matters involving businesses, real estate, utilities and energy. He advises clients on a broad range of issues from formation, mergers, project certification, rate cases, financing cases, wholesale contracts, extension contracts, service territory, land use and more. In addition, Dave has formed, wound up and counseled businesses and been involved in a wide array of real estate transactions.

In the renewables space, Dave has guided clients through the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission approval process for projects totaling over 2,050 MW of electric nameplate capacity. He has represented solar developers in transmission interconnection matters and represented a pioneering developer in the community solar segment in regulatory litigation before the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) that threatened the continued viability of the community solar business model. He also counseled an electric generation and transmission utility in multiple CPUC proceedings for transmission infrastructure with an aggregate value of more than $200 million.

Dave was with the firm from 1998-2012, rising to capital partner before moving his practice to Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP in Colorado. He has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® twice in the field of Energy Regulatory Law, and was recently named “Who’s Who in Energy” by the Denver Business Journal. Dave also hosts The Water Values Podcast, wherein he interviews prominent and interesting figures in the water industry twice per month.

Dave is admitted to practice in Indiana State Courts, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Indiana, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Indiana, U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit, Colorado Court of Appeals, Colorado State Judicial District Courts, and Colorado Supreme Court. Dave earned his J.D. from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law; his undergraduate degree is in Economics from Wabash College.
