Tandy Patrick Discusses Dramatic Changes in Real Estate Law over the Last Several Years with LBA Bar Briefs Magazine

In the most recent issue of the Louisville Bar Association’s Bar Briefs, Tandy Patrick spoke with Colin Crawford, dean of the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, about the most recent changes in real estate law over the last ten years. Patrick, who has over 40 years of diverse commercial real estate experience, with a particular emphasis on shopping center development and retail leasing, says these changes have been the most significant she has seen in her career.

Of these dramatic changes in the retail space specifically, she cites the increase in internet sales and remote-work technology advances as driving factors in the shift away from the traditional need for brick-and-mortar stores and fancy office spaces. Nonetheless, through all of these changes, Patrick points to the continued importance of legal counsel when it comes to documentation, due diligence and negotiation.
