Tandy Patrick shares advice for career success
BGD partner Tandy Patrick shared her advice on career success with Business First of Louisville readers in a special edition recently. She was asked by the publication to provide guidance to young professionals about succeeding in the work force. The special edition featured 10 women business leaders in the area.
“The advice that I would give to my 25 – 30-year-old self about succeeding in the work force would be twofold,” said Patrick.
The two tidbits of career advice Patrick shared are as follows: First, make every opportunity to network because professional and personal connections help greatly when first start a career, and throughout life.
Next, identify and follow all passions in life. Once you find what makes you feel fully engaged, do everything you can to incorporate it into your life’s work.
“Do what you love, and success will follow,” said Patrick.
She went on to discuss the happiness she feels through her job satisfaction; work does not feel like punching a time clock or waiting for the weekend, she approaches her work with enthusiasm every day.
“I’m 59 years old and have been a business attorney for the past 36 years. Many of my colleagues complain of burnout and can’t wait to retire, but I wake up every morning thinking about the day’s work with excitement and enthusiasm,” said Patrick.
