01.09.2015

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Jan. 9, 2015)—Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP is pleased to announce that Reed S. Schmitt, Alex R. Schmitt and Meagan R. Brien have joined the firm’s Evansville office. Their move to BGD will strengthen the firm’s capabilities in the growing tri-state region including Southwestern Indiana, Southeastern Illinois and Western Kentucky.

“Bingham Greenebaum Doll has been privileged to serve many significant businesses in Southwestern Indiana for many years. In joining BGD, Reed, Alex and Meagan provide our clients with proven experience and a strong connection to the Evansville business community,” said William J. Kaiser, Jr., the firm’s Jasper Office Managing Partner.

“Each of them brings experience and knowledge that will augment our existing team and strengths, and will help us continue to build lasting client relationships in the area. They join Donald J. Fuchs and Bruce A. Smith, who practice from BGD’s Evansville office,” he said.

Reed S. Schmitt will serve as Of Counsel in the firm’s Corporate and Transactional practice group. He brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the areas of estate planning and administration, corporate law and commercial litigation. Reed has successfully argued two cases before the Indiana Court of Appeals, and has established Indiana law regarding the transfer of closely-held stock in a decedent’s estate, and defining trade secrets in non-competition agreements. In addition, Reed is active in numerous professional and civic and charitable organizations and is the past president of the Evansville Bar Association.

Alex R. Schmitt also joins the firm’s Corporate and Transactional practice group as an Associate, where he will assist with general matters in corporate litigation, commercial law, and estate planning and probate administration. Alex received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University in 2007 and his law degree from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2011. As a law student, Alex clerked for the Office of the Indiana Attorney General’s Professional Licensing Division; he also interned with the litigation division of the barrister firm of Selborne Chambers in London.

Meagan R. Brien will serve the firm’s Litigation practice group as an Associate, where she will continue to focus her practice on business/corporate law, commercial litigation, and estate planning and probate administration. Meagan graduated cum laude from the University of Kentucky in 2006. She then earned her J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2009, where she was awarded the Norman Lefstein Award of Excellence for contributing over 200 hours of pro bono work to the Indiana Office of the Attorney General.

The firm will continue to be strategic about adding talent to practice areas that will have the most impact in 2015, according to firm Managing Partner Tobin McClamroch.

“The Evansville market continues to be important to BGD as we strive to best serve our clients in both the city and surrounding areas,” he said.
