Overview

Bryan is the Chair of the Real Estate Practice Group and practices primarily in the area of commercial real estate transactions, focusing on matters involving the acquisition, sale and leasing of improved and unimproved real estate. After graduating with honors from Indiana University in 1987, Bryan earned his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1990. Bryan was admitted to the Indiana Bar in 1990 and is a member of the American, Indiana State and Indianapolis Bar Associations.

  • Served as lead real estate counsel for local government in connection with public-private partnership relating to acquisition and development of property for proposed criminal justice center;
  • Real estate acquisitions and sales by Fortune 500 company in connection with transmission line and substation site acquisitions and related operational requirements;
  • Real estate acquisitions by local government in connection with construction of sports facilities and other public improvement projects;
  • Real estate acquisition, development and retail leasing for developers in connection with shopping center developments;
  • Acquisition of owner-occupied office building and associated commercial parking facility;
  • Sale of apartment complexes by national REIT;
  • Representation of wind energy project developers in connection with due diligence, title and leasing matters;
  • Condominium development projects;
  • Acquisition of apartment projects in connection with condominium conversion and construction of condominiums;
  • Real estate sale, acquisition and leasing for retail franchisees;
  • Ground leasing in connection with public-private partnerships and private transactions;
  • Representation of borrowers and lenders in connection with secured real estate lending, including preparation of local counsel opinions;
  • Representation of property owners in oil and gas pipeline easement disputes and resolution;
  • Representation of parties to Section 1031 exchange transactions; and
  • Extensive experience in preparation, negotiation and review of: 
    • commercial office leases 
    • distribution, warehouse and related industrial space leases 
    • retail leases
    • related subleases.
