Jake is a member of the firm's Economic Development Department and Real Estate Practice Group. He focuses his practice primarily on real estate and business transactions.

Jake regularly helps clients navigate a broad range of commercial real estate matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, financing, development, title examinations and insurance, investment, operations, and land use/zoning. He also provides clients with general counsel services and advises clients in connection with business mergers and acquisitions, business financing and structuring, and a variety of commercial contracts.

Representative Cases and Achievements

  • Represented lenders and borrowers in negotiating and documenting numerous real estate and asset based financing transactions ranging from under $100,000 to in excess of $25,000,000
  • Assisted lead bank in participation of construction loan in excess of $6,000,000
  • Prepared of office, retail industrial, ground, and other commercial leases on behalf of landlords, and represented prospective tenants in the evaluation and negotiating of leases
  • Selection, formation, and structuring of business entities for numerous purposes
  • Advised developers and owners in connection with documenting and interpreting easements, restrictive covenants, master deeds, and similar matters
  • Represented multiple business owners and investors through all stages of the purchase/sale of business assets and membership interests
  • Achieved successful results in Planning Commission (zoning) proceedings involving agricultural, business, and industrial properties, and Board of Adjustment proceedings involving the operation of a drive-through window
