Overview

Meagan R. Brien is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department, where she focuses her practice on business/corporate law, commercial litigation, fiduciary litigation, creditors’ rights, and employment law, as well as estate planning and probate administration.  Meagan has assisted clients in their litigation in both federal and state courts and administrative proceedings in Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois in claims involving property damage, bad faith insurance coverage denials, contract disputes, employee embezzlement, employee non-competition, non-solicitation, and non-disparagement agreements, commercial foreclosures, and personal property disputes.

Meagan is licensed to practice law in the States of Indiana and Illinois and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  She was recognized as an Indiana Super Lawyer, Rising Star in 2014 and 2015.  She is an active member in her community and sits on various boards and committees, including the Evansville Bar Association Board of Directors, the Board of Trustees of Evansville Day School, and Board of Directors of the Greater Henderson County U.K. Alumni Association.  Her service to the Evansville Bar Association was recognized in 2017 as she was awarded the Doran Perdue Service Award.  Meagan is also a member of civic and charitable organizations, including A Network of Evansville Women, the Junior League of Evansville, and the Women’s Fund of Vanderburgh County, Community Foundation Alliance.

Meagan earned her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Kentucky in political science and economics. While achieving her undergraduate degree, she interned in the United States Senate in Washington, D.C., for Senator Jim Bunning. She then obtained her J.D. from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, where she was awarded the Norman Lefstein Award of Excellence for contributing over 200 hours of pro bono work to the Indiana Office of the Attorney General.  As a law student, Meagan was an extern for Judges Gerald S. Zore and Heather Welch in Marion County Superior Court; she also interned for the Indiana Office of the Attorney General in the Civil Rights and Employment division.
